Alphathon at Thai Nguyen University, University of Economics and Business Administration (TUEBA)

Overview

Thai Nguyen University, University of Economics and Business Administration (TUEBA) and WorldQuant Virtual Research Center will be launching the TUEBA Alphathon, which is part of the WorldQuant Challenge, for TUEBA students  beginning on  7th January and ending on 28th January, 2019. This would give students from TUEBA an exciting opportunity to learn about quantitative finance and data science.

The WorldQuant Challenge provides interested candidates with an opportunity to test their ideas and develop high-quality financial market signals (alphas) using WebSim, WorldQuant’s web-based simulation platform. Qualified candidates earn points by creating alphas — and these points can lead to Bronze, Silver and Gold status. Individuals who achieve Silver and Gold status may be considered for research consulting opportunities with WorldQuant.

How the TUEBA Alphathon Works

The TUEBA Alphathon makes the WorldQuant Challenge even more exciting by offering the top 3 Gold finishers the opportunity for each to receive a one-time special stipend once each qualifies to be a Research Consultant.

  • Top Scorer: The top ranked participant in the TUEBA Alphathon will be considered for a one-time special stipend of up to USD $300 in our discretion.
  • #2 and #3 Scorer: The individuals whose final scores ranked second and third within the TUEBA Alphathon will be considered for a one-time special stipend of up to USD $150 each in our discretion.
  • #4 to #7 Scorer: The individuals whose final score ranked fourth through seventh within the TUEBA Alphathon will be considered for a one-time special stipend of up to USD $100 each in our discretion.

For participants who demonstrate a strong understanding of alpha creation, WorldQuant may also offer the opportunity to interview for potential internship and, where available, full-time employment opportunities with WorldQuant.

Note that only Alphas created, simulated and submitted on or after 7th January, 2019 and before 28th January, 2019, will be considered for TUEBA Alphathon scoring.
